After reading Gorgeously Green, I plan on chucking most of my hair care, cosmetics and skin care that is’nt organic. I did’nt realize that most of these commercial beauty products that women use everyday are full of toxins and bad chemicals that should’nt come
in contact with human skin let alone animals.

It’s been slow conversions. But we cloth diaper, since we just have had our 5th baby this year I figure that’s a significant “green” impact we’ve had by keeping the landfill contributions down!
I also carry cloth grocery bags. We are buying CFL lights and as the old ones die, we replace them with those. We’ve become more conscious of making each trip out of the house be the most productive to save excess trips.
And.. hmm… we will buy clothes at thrift stores and consignment shops. It’s not only a cost savings, it’s less wasteful in my book! That’s all that comes to mind right now.

Recycle…everything! I recently added little recycling bags near the bathroom garbage cans too. It’s amazing just how much cardboard and plastic is used in many toiletry/cosmetic product packaging. We recycle more than we throw out in trash!

We’ve started saving and recycling all of our paper - there’s a dumpster at church now that takes it. Between newspapers and junk mail, it’s quite a bit!
I’m also working on a collection of re-usable bags for grocery shopping.
With soccer season starting, I’d love to be able to bring this gorgeous bottle with me when my kids play!

Oh, we do a lot to try to be ‘green,’ such as always turning off lights and things when we’re not using them, always recycling our plastic bags, recycling EVERYthing we can and encouraging others to do the same, bringing tote bags to the grocery store, never buying bottled water anymore, and so on. It’s very important to me, and I’m trying to make it impt to the rest of my family, too. Thanks - oh, and I just added you to my google reader, too - I’ll be back!

I recently bought tote bags for our shopping trips. We cloth diaper, plant a garden and hang clothes to dry in the summer. I have been working with my kids on turning off the lights as we leave rooms and turning off the water while brushing their teeth. We also rely heavily on the Library for books.
We have stopped using water bottles and have totally stopped using lights from sun up to sun down!
We try to use our own tote bags at the store! I would love to try SIGG, no more plastic bottles for me!

Well, we have started using green cleaners from Shaklee. They are great, in the past other cleaners would make me feel sick, but these have no smell, totally organic. Also, we compost our food waste to the compost pile, we grow our own vegies every summmer. And I have started using reuseable bags when grocery shopping.

We think “green” even when we buy products - I want to be able to recycle all the packing material, and prefer buying in bulk. We don’t use any paper products such as kitchen paper towels, paper napkins, wipes, paper plates etc. Everything we use is reusable. Our family of five makes less trash a month than the family next door with two adults in a week!

We are moving green in many ways: installing cork floors in our bathrooms (we were going to use tile but cork is sustainable), we harvest rain from our roof to irrigate our garden, we grow lot’s of fruit and veggies. I just purchased some earth-friendly (and health-friendly) cleaning products from Shaklee. It was a little bit of an investment, but I feel my family and the earth will be better off for it. BTW, I already have your blog included in my Reader.
We recyle all paper and plastics that are accepted by our trash company. It has been fun to teach my boys about it. We pay almost all bills online which saves lots of paper. I am gettin ready to start using canvas bags at the grocery store but I have not figured out how to do it yet because I do most of my shopping every two weeks - that would be a lot of bags! Any hints.

I am switching to all earth friendly cleaners in our house. We also try really hard to recycle even when it isn’t convenient. Other little things are keeping our house at 65 in the winter and 72 in the summer. We do our best with the day to day of turning off lights, walking instead of driving whenever possible, and choosing drought friendly plants in the yard.
If I am already a subscriber to the blog does that count for anything?!?

We’re trying to recycle everything we can. I have a recycling bin upstairs now to toss things we normally throw away out of convinience (toilet paper tubes, scrap paper, cardboard packagine from new toothpaste, etc…) Not only that but we’re trying to reuse some of the stuff we used to recycle. I took a huge stack of magazines down to the library’s used book store the other day. Now somebody else can enjoy them and the library will make a little money.
We already replaced all of our light bulbs with the new spiral fluorescents. We try to resell as much clothing as we can. If it doesn’t sell, we give it away. I try to leave as many plastic bags at the store as I can. I really need to get a good tote because I still feel I use too many.

Going green…hmm…We’ve started recycling all of our cardboard food packages. I’d like to recycle more, but we live in an apartment and have absolutely no storage! I’ve also recently switched to Shaklee cleaners. I love them, and I love knowing that they’re safe for our family and the earth. I’d really love to win this water bottle! We don’t buy bottled water, so we don’t have the waste there. But I think I would remember to drink a lot more water if I took it with me everywhere!

We have Klean Kanteens, I’d love to have a Sigg to compare, or give my mom, I’m FINALLY getting her to listen to the dangers of plastic.
ALL the things we’ve done over the last few years to go green? My memory isn’t that good (& it’s all jumbled together, which changes are environmental, which are for our health, which are to save money . . . ) But here’s what I can come up with off the top of my head:
Reusable shopping bags, use gray water for watering plants, hang our clothes dry, turned our heat back this winter, reusable water bottles, recycle, freecycle, clean w/ baking soda & vinegar, use rags instead of paper towels, cloth napkins, and wipes instead of TP (most of the time, dh isn’t about to switch LOL), we used cloth diapers when the girls were in diapers . . . I’m sure there’s other things, but that’s what I can think of at the moment.

We’ve done a few things, but I still wish we could do more. I’ve got my son in cloth diapers (except for at church - those nursery ladies are saints, but his Fuzzi Bunz confused them, so I keep sposies on hand just for them!) and I use mama cloth and a Diva Cup. We started recycling when we moved to this house last July and cut back from a 14-gallon trash bag full every other DAY — to one not-quite-full every week or 10 days!
This spring I’m taking a little class on composting with some friends in my Mommy & Me group, so I plan to start doing that soon. As for water, I’ve stopped buying bottles & keep a Brita pitcher in the fridge — but a Sigg bottle (especially this PRETTY one) would be such a fun little treat for doing something good for the earth!

I use Lunapads
My dd uses Lunapads
I only wash full loads of laundry and everything except towels gets washed in cold water
I use biodegradable dryer sheets
I rarely rarely rarely use paper plates/plastic silverware/styrofoam cups
I’m sure there is more, but I’m not totally awake yet.

We use the green lightbulbs that reduce energy. We also save all our plastic bags and use them over and over. Thank you for a wonderful giveaway, I love the bottle, and it would be perfect.
well we have replaced our lightbulbs with those spiral looking ones and we’ve been recycling for almost a year now (it helps that where we moved has free recyclying, but i still have to go through everything and make sure it gets to the right bin). i’ve been wanting a sigg forever! i’m signing up for your feed right now as well!!
We recycle EVERYTHING we can and recently realized that if we started a compost pile, that would mean we have NO trash. So we are going to be starting a compost pile.
We also bring our own bags to the grocery store.
We are saving up to replace our boiler for our house and water heat. This will use far less oil.
And, lastly, we have placed a bucket under our bathroom sink so that the water we use to wash our hands goes into it. Then we use this water to flush the toilet. Why use potable water to flush?!?! The $$ we save on our water bill goes to a non-profit that helps provide clean drinking water to places that previously had none.
Oh, and I subscribed to your feed.
Thanks!

We also just bought a condo within walking distance to work and to a metro station, which I think will be huge in cutting our eco-footprint by cutting out our commute, and reducing our home energy usage. We recycle everything we can, although we try to reduce waste in the first place by not buying canned or plastic bottled beverages/food. Another thing banned from our home is ziploc bags, as we try to put everything in reusable containers instead.
What a great giveaway! We use the Big Water Jug (5 gal) that we refill and drink from instead of buying those individual water bottles. I have subscribed to your blog! I’m in this blog giveaways to meet new friends!
Annabelle’s last blog post..I have realized…
My husband and I have done a few things.
We use CFLs when possible. Unfortunately, we still haven’t found good ones for ceiling fans or dimmer switches. My husband drives the more fuel efficient car for his longer commute. We recycle. And we have a programmable thermostat.
I am really working on becoming green and a new water bottle would be perfect! That one is so pretty and my style too! Love it!
We recycle, we work on turning all lights off and unplugging anything not in use, I am going to get back into cloth diapering with my younger son, we try not to waste, we have all energy star appliances and fans, and I am looking into buying reusable bags.
Thanks!
We recycle as much as we can. reuse grocery bags. don’t buy plastic water bottles anymore so this would be great. Thanks for the give away.
This is the year that I am “Greening my Clean”. I have made the switch to non-toxic, safe, green products. With having a baby at home (who is into everything!) I wanted to make sure that it was safe. I will be working on some of the personal care products like shampoo and such next.
I would love the water bottle. It would be used big time here!

I just told me husband last night that our project this evening is replacing our regular lightbulbs with the low-watt bulbs. Otherwise, we recycle. We composte (or at least I’m trying to!). We bought a water-filter and are filling water bottles that way. We are trying to keep our thermostats set to low. And this weekend we put a washer and dryer that are both energy star efficient so as to hopefully cut our electricity and water use.

I use reuseable grocery bags- most of the time. We don’t use plastic water bottles. And I don’t buy paper towels or napkins anymore, I just use rags and cloth napkins! Thanks for the entry, it is such a pretty Sigg!

We use only re-usable bags now when shopping so we never get anymore plastic bags (this is personal crusade for me!) and we have replaced our light bulbs to the energy friendly ones. We have also adjusted the thermostat in our house for more energy conservation. If had my druthers we’d by a hybrid soon too. We’ll see… Thanks for the chance to win!

Let’s see..we have: quit using paper towels (cloth all the way), switched our light bulbs over, try to hang as much laundry as possible (when the weather is nice), recycle, use cloth bags, use tupperware instead of plastic bags whenever possible…I’m sure there’s more, but that’s all I can come up with!

I’m ashamed to admit that we have only recently begun recycling. Now, we recycle all cans, bottles, cardboard, milk jugs, etc…and it really cuts down on our trash. We’ve got four boys with baby #5 on the way, and we can easily fill up 2 large garbage bags a day before recycling.
We have also switched out a lot of our light bulbs with the more energy efficient ones…really helps cut down on our eletricity use!
Shannon’s last blog post..It’s Bloggy Giveaway time!!!
We have just started recycling! I know it sounds boring, but I bought 2 tubs on sale from Container Store, and cans/glass go in one, paper goes in the other. And we have a recycling center close by that actually pays us to take our stuff there. It’s motivating! I’m also switching over to recycled bags.
Alicia @ Experiencing Each Moment’s last blog post..Where are you?
We recycle and use Costco reusable bags.
Hi,
Love your site. I did subscribe, thanks, so enter me twice. The green thing we do…………we do lots of green things……now I have to choose which to share. We compost in a BIG way. We have an organic vegetable garden. We recycle. We re-use our Classico Spaghetti jars for our ice water glasses. When the Pirates were in diapers, they wore cloth. We route our washers rinse water into the lawn. These are a few of my favorite (green) things!
Those new lightbulbs (name is totally escaping me)
Unplugging chargers, microwave, toaster, blow dryer, etc when not in use
Turning heat down a couple degrees
Resuable shopping bags (plus I love not having 1,000,000 plastic bags all over my house!)
Trying to reuse other peoples stuff (second hand shopping, garage sales, picking up “trash” from the curb)
I do recycle milk cartons, newspapers and magazines. We’ve switched out most of our light bulbs for the compact flourescent bulbs. We eat some organic food. I’m sure there’s more I should be doing!

We’ve always been a pretty “green” home. Two of the biggest things we do is recycle things like jars, which make great food containers. The other things we do is buy cleaning products without all the harsh chemicals. Not only do they smell great, but I’ve found they work better. We also take our own cloth bags out with us when we go shopping. But, we’ve been doing that for quite awhile now. I’m just so happy that others are doing the same! Thanks.

I am ashamed to admit that I’m one of THOSE people who go through tons of water bottles. I’d love to transition over to something like a Sigg bottle (and the one you’re giving away is so cute!). Thanks for the reminder to be less wasteful and for the great giveaway!
BlondeBlogger’s last blog post..My 19th Anniversary
I try and recycle all that I can, and I don’t get rid of a piece of paper until it’s been used on both sides!
We have changed out light bulbs to the more energy efficient ones. And, I planted my first garden yesterday. I don’t know if that really makes our family more green, well, maybe just my thumb!

We use canvas bags at all stores, vinegar and water to clean, drive less, bike more!

Alana’s last blog post..Bloggy Giveaway - Real Simple Magazine
We have all energy efficient light bulbs. What plastic grocery bags we get sometimes, we reuse to line our bathroom trashbins and also to wrap up stinky diapers (sorry, that’s where I’m not “green”. Can’t seem to let go of my disposable diapers… do I get extra points for admitting my non-green faults? lol!). We yard sell everything we are done with and whatever doesn’t sell we donate. We recycle everything we possible can and take in soda cans and donate the monies to our Church ministries. We’re even in the process of getting other people at Church to do the same thing and donate their “can profits” too. When I’m in need of anything I look for it first at garage sales and “Freecycle” (through Yahoo!) before buying it new.
I love those water bottles. So cute as well as earth friendly!
Runningamuck’s last blog post..The Bloggy Giveaway Carnival is HERE!!
I haven’t actually done this yet, but I am planning to make grocery bags out of recycled sheets so that I don’t have to use paper or plastic ones. We also recycle nearly every scrap of paper and plastic that we can.

I would love to win this….I have been wanting one of these and just have not stepped up and got it. Winning it would be total karma!
First, read Grogeously Green…its a great book taht I just read and full of simple tips that everyone can start doing.
Scond, I take bags to the grocery store….that was my NYs resolution and I am still sticking to it. Next, I have started to be more aware of my shopping habits- by recycled paper whenever I can, reusing my paper at work-printing on both sides,I take a reusable mug to get my coffee….just to name a simple few.

I have used all natural homemade cleaners for spring cleaning!
I just heard of SIGG the other day but they look like a great company! One of the ways I have tried to become more green is to cut back on the use of ziploc bags by using washable containers instead. I know some people who wash and reuse ziplocs, but that just doesn’t work for me. I would rather use other kinds of containers and save the landfill.
That’s a beautiful bottle and I hope I win!
I have been wanting one of these water bottles for a while. We switched all 35 of our lightbulbs to fluorescents this year, we recycle as much as we can (Utah does not have an extensive recycling program), we walk if we can, we reuse all of our paper for coloring paper for the kids. It’s a start!

Right now I use glass mason jars for my water, but this water bottle would be fantastic!

what a great giveaway!
we have started using the plastic bags we get every time we go to the store as planters!
just cut a small hole in the bottom of the bag to let the plant grow out of…the bag hangs & is filled with dirt (& the roots) & the plant grows upside down!
gravity helps the plant to pull the nutrients (like nitrogen) down into the plant & wa-la! you have a beautiful, full bunch of (in our case) tomatoes!
(you can even plant clover on top to put more nutrients into the soil!)

Our family recently switched to CFLs for most of our lighting needs and I also use cloth bags at the grocery store. That is a lot of fun, because it gives me a chance to spread the word to others.
I use homemade cleaning products and I have one Siggy cup so far. It’s really for the baby. I would love another!!
Great give away! We recycle at home but I’ve been looking for a way to reduce the amount of plastic bottles I use in my quest to drink more water. We’ve switched out bulbs in the house, I yell at my family to turn off the lights and I keep canvas bags in the car or re-use the paper ones I keep in the laundry room.
That is such a cool bottle! I have gone green around my house by turning out lights when I’m not in the room and unplugging everything when not in use.
We use a lot of organic products. We have also purchased a lot of reusable bags to use when we shop. We were so sick of plastic all over the house it made sense. In addition to this we have lots of water bottles/cups/mugs/pitchers rather than buying things that get tossed.

Of course, we recycle. Our waste disposal service started a single sort recycling program, so everything we recycle goes into one bin. It’s SO easy.
We use soaker hoses for the gardens instead of sprinklers. We try to avoid disposable anything. We combine trips to conserve gas. We use recycled products. We use cloth shopping bags for most of our trips to the store, but when I forget, I take our plastic grocery bags back to the store to recycle them. We shop at the co-op, and try to buy locally produced food as much as possible. We buy in bulk whenever possible and use reusable containers at home.
We use a water filter instead of buying bottled water. Wow. It adds up, doesn’t it? It’s really a mindset and a lifestyle.

Here’s what we do:
We don’t buy water. Ever. Plastic water bottles are as bad as profanities at our house. I’m also a big believer in the phrase, “the greenest building is the one that’s already built.” Our home was built around 1915, and because it’s adobe brick, and stays cool/warm easily, we use very little energy. We’re also planting a garden this year-pesticide free.
Cute bottle!
I have updated all my light bulbs to energy efficient ones, i’ve furnished my apartment with mostly recyled retro furniture and my boyfriend and i are currently re-doing my old beach cruiser so that i can start riding to work instead of driving…….not enough i know but i’m still working on it

I’d love to win a new water bottle cuz I think the one we use may have that bad chemical in it…
We have WIPED OUT all of our toxic cleaners and now only use baking soda, vinegar, water, etc. I’d love to have this water bottle as we are training for our first 5K!
Awesome giveaway. In order to make our home “greener”, I take my own cloth bags to the grocery. I recycle by either taking it to the correct recycling center, or the correct bins for pickup, or I also just reuse bottles, etc., decoratively. We use all organic cleaners. Most of my makeup is organic and I’m slowly moving to all organic. Have a great day. Please enter me.

My friends and I are always trying to recycle things back into use and we have started making reusable shopping bags out of our old, worn and torn sheets. Things that would have become rags and eventually just thrown out are now being brought to life again as useful object that are helping to cut out “paper or plastic” at the stores!
I really want one of these Sigg bottles! Thanks for the great giveaway!

I reuse anything that can possibly and safely be reused. I have even been known to reuse aluminum foil and plastic wrap!
I also recycle old, worn out socks as chew toys for the dogs–put a big, fat knot in it and toss it to them. It keeps them amused for hours.
I’m becoming green by drinking from the ultra cute Sigg bottle that I am going to win of course!! Do those funny lightbulbs count for living green cause I do have them!

Elliemae’s last blog post..Weekend Recap…
Every day in our household we make little steps to become more of a green family. Of course we recycle (that is when our recycling center will take it! They told my husband they couldn’t take our pizza boxes because of the oil-meanies!) I have an organic garden, we have a rainbarrel and I water my garden with that and use it for water for all of our animals.

We are in the process of switching out all of our lightbulbs. It’s taking us some time because they are a little pricy for us.
I use my own totes at the grocery store (or any other store) and I’m so proud of it! I make my oldest son help bag.
Oh! and bottled water-not for us. I actually wrote about how terrible they are in my blog.
There are so many other things we try to acomplish every day, to many to list but we do our best to make small changes whenever we can.
Great give-away and have a great night!

ObXMoM’s last blog post..Some funnies for Earth Day
My family started bike riding this spring. We have started using them to go to the church, school and to friends houses. Trying to keep the car parked as much as possible. It’s been a big step for us since I have kids who have just started driving. We also plant out own garden and use the droppings from our chickens as fertilizer. Trying harder to be GREEN. Thanks
I use energy efficient light bulbs and try and use natural light versus electric. Thanks for the giveaway.
We’ve been recycling for years. This year I bought the Kroger cloth grocery bags and use them each week - they are so much better than those plastic things. I switched to the new earth friendly laundry detergent from Arm N’ Hammer, trying to watch our water and electric consumption. Looking into HE washers for when our toploader goes. Thanks for the opportunity to participate!
I have just bought re-usable grocery bags and love them, we are trying to be alot greener, doing it one step at a time. thank you for doing this.

we recycle, use non-toxic household products and eat organic. Just bought a sigg for my baby boy and would love to have one for myself!
I have recently:
- Started using cloth diapers
- replaced my plastic food containers with glass
- made and use cloth grocery bags
- knit a farmer’s market produce bag
- recycle thrifted sweaters to reuse the yarn
That’s all I can think of for now. We don’t have any of the Sigg water bottles but want some. This is a great giveaway. You got a TON of comments.
Cheers!

we also just bought energy saver lightbulbs to use throughout the house, and instead of driving to most of the stores by our house, we take a walk if the weather is nice…

Love the water bottle, so pretty. We have been recycling for about 6 years now and have really gotten it down to a science! I have also been trying to cut down on energy consumption by turning off electronics and lights, etc. at night. Our family will be going seriously green very soon. We recycle, buy local produce (it’s so much tastier, too!) and bike everywhere possible.
We’re really trying to be more “green”, but haven’t made a whole lot of changes yet. So far, we’ve switched out the lightbulbs in our most used lights (the ones we never seen to turn off) for CFL bulbs, started using recycled garbage bags (I really want to start buying the biodegradable ones, but my fiance complains about the price), double printing (trying not to waste so much paper), using a water filter so we cut way down on bottled water/plastic bottles, recycling/reusing our plastic grocery bags.. we’re looking into recycling at home, composting and a few other “green” living things.
BTW, I have to say that the SIGG bottle is cute!

Thanks for having this giveaway. I try to recycle paper as much as I can - when one side of a sheet of paper is blank, I’ll keep it and use the other side. I worked in an office a few years ago, but have not worked since I had my son 3 years ago. I always did my best to recycle paper while I was there - I often took paper out of the recycling bin that others were finished with, then I would use the other side. I kept that paper and am still using it…

I used to leave the lights on all the time - it didn’t matter if we were in the room or not. I decided to focus on not wasting electricity in this way. Also, we used to jump in the car for any errand. Now I try to group errands so I do them at the same time. Lzstly, I no longer use the styrofoam cups at work - I use a mug from home.

natural shampoo, natural dish soap & laundry soap, stuff that’s reusable instead of “throw away after one use”, natural fabric softener, organic foods, less water, recycle, and even natural dog shampoo! hehe…Ah yes, and we use herbal medicine and natural remedies, instead of the “real” medicine, if that accounts to anything.
I love the water bottle, and I like the question that makes you have to put in some profitable input, too (^^,)

Sorry ’bout that.
The steps that I have taken to be more green are 1. using cloth diapers (with much opposition), 2. using “mama cloth” or cloth sanitary napkins, 3. using cloth baby wipes, 4. recycling whenever possible, 5. only running full loads in washing machines, 6. hang drying as much as possible, 7. freecycling when I have usable items I am done with, 8. no longer purchasing/using paper plates, cups, or napkins, 9.and finally sharing the love & trying to convert others to using sustainable materials.
I am trying to convince DH that “family cloth” (cloth toilet paper) isn’t disgusting & that we should use cloth towels instead of paper.
We are planning on using cloth diapers with our little one due in June. We also recently started a compost pile to reduce our trash!
I just bought a ton of reusable grocery bags so we have enough for all the groceries we buy. For a while I just had a couple. I also take them to other places (clothes shopping, farmers market, garage sales, etc.) to put my goods in so I don’t have to use plastic bags anywhere I go. Great giveaway, thanks! PS I subscribed to your feed.

We compost–in a big way! The chicken manure from our farm is combined with leftover sawdust from a nearby furniture manufacturer and composted to make a very green product.
I’ve taken it upon myself to sort the trash for recycling since my family isn’t as environmentally aware. I’ve also encouraged everybody at my job to stop putting sandwiches in plastic bags if it is a dine in order and to use only one bag per group whenever possible on take out orders. I’ve switched to a Divacup instead of tampons to cut down on waste. I also have gotten into the habit of turning off my computer when I am not using it as well as using fabric bags instead of plastic bags at the grocery store.
Well hmmm, we recycle ferociously. Even embarrasing letters that probably should be shredded. I’m glad we don’t have any stalkers. We use bags for all shopping (and carts). We belong to a CSA and during the winter shop at our local urban organics grocer. We use sigg bottles although my son is the only one who has one he doesn’t have to share–and we just lost the family one. We also support our local library and give all of our used books to school and recycle our clothing too–to anyone who will take it. We are working to improve in other ways too. Thanks for offering this prize.

We always use totes for everything…Today for Earth Day we had a neighborhood get-2-gether, and planted a tree. I am ashamed to say, I don’t own a single Sigg! Would love for this one to be my first!
I have been carrying my water to work in Pom Tea glasses so I would really love the Sigg bottle. Recently we begin taking our own fabric bags when we go grocery shopping. I hope to learn to crochet my own out of gently worn cotton fabric strips.

I have always wanted one of these! We do currently use reusable plastic bottles, but I have become aware of potential leaching (although I bought ones that say no leaching)…hhhmmm. Anyway, we also use natural, organic cleaners for everything in our house and bodies! Love it!

Count me in. We recycle, walk instead of taking the car whenever possible, use canvas shopping bags, use homemade cleaners and keep the AC at a higher temperature.
I’m having FIVE GIVEAWAYS on my blogS as well. Hope you’ll stop by.
Thanks!

We use reusable bags. I’ve found out though, that if your son leaves a power bar in a bag, and then the bag gets a hole in it because a mouse is living in your car and wants the powerbar, you will be more unhappy than if it were a disposable bag.
These look great. I changed out our light bulbs and put in energy efficent ones. I also only wash laundry now with cold water. Great giveaway!

Lets see, to become more green i have switched most of my cosmetic products to organic vegitarian/vegan. (woohoo LUSH!) I have also purchased a Ton of cloth totes and use them to do all my shopping.
My project for this spring is to start a organic garden and a compost pile. I’d also like to build some birdhouses for bird refuges as i live in an urban area - so the available homes for them are limited!
I totally need to switch to a SIGG bottle. I’ve been pouring over them for Months trying to find the perfect one. I Love the one you are offering.
Let’s see… we don’t use chemicals or eat processed food (as much as possible).

Hi,
I for one am really happy to see so many people jumping on the “green” bandwagon…It’s about time more people got involved. I’ve been using home made tote bags (that I’ve made out of my fabric stash) for a few years now. I’m working on getting all of my light bulbs changed (too expensive for me to do them all at once). I also use a push mower to cut my lawn (good exercise).
Thanks,
Karen
I’m starting small when it comes to being green. I’ve already purchased cloth bags for grocery shopping and I’m driving my small “runs on less gas” car instead of the tank.
I love that Sigg bottle!
I recently bought some Chico bags to replace the plastic grocery bags you get at the store. I haven’t gone shopping yet, but I’m surprised by how much I like these! I will definitely be getting some more because I can think of about a hundred uses for them.
We cloth diaper part time, too. I really should do it full time, but with 3 1/2 in diapers I am already swamped with laundry.

We use canvas totes for all of our shopping. We save our neighbors newspaper bags from the trash to give them one more use–poop bags for dog walks
We buy refillable or reusable products whenever possible. This year we’ve switched to solid shampoo bars that have no packaging of any kind, and we’re seeking out more “naked” products.
Thanks for the allowing us to enter the drawing!
what a cool water bottle. i also use a plastic refillable bottle to help reduce waste, except it is my husbands so winning yours would be perfect for me. to help the environment i have started recycling my plastic and glass bottles even though it is a pain to walk a block to the nearest recycling bin, IT IS WORTH IT!!!!!
i use cloth bags at the grocery store, use public transportation or walk when possible. we recycle and i just ordered cloth menstrual pads. oh, and we hand wash dishes in cold (that’s more forced conservation

I recycle everything and some days it really drives my husband crazy but it makes me feel better. I even try to bring my drink bottles home from the mall just so I can recycle them. My son usually gets hand me downs which is a good way to reuse the clothes and when the clothes are done then they get recycled with everything else. I’m glad my county recycles clothes too.
I’ve quit using paper towels (we were going through so many!) and just use dish rags. Also, I reuse all of my grocery bags and have started drinking water from a purifier instead of bottled water (so much plastic thrown away!). Awesome giveaway!
I have switched to CFBs in all the places I can, I have been using cloth bags instead of plastic more often, and my daughter has been really excited by earth day, when we forget to shut off a light, she runs around behind us, chastising and shutting it off. I would really like to try this water bottle, so I can incorporate that into my routine also, even better if it is won!
We freecycle, reuse grocery bags, changed out bulbs, less car use, & reuse almost everything at least once. Oh and shop thrift stores but that is just for fun
this water bottle is so cute.
I have started washing my clothes with cold water and hanging them out to dry. I also turned off the dry setting on my dishwasher and just let my dishes air dry. I would love to do more but this is my start.
We use cloth napkins, use very little paper towels and instead use small rags cut from old t-shirts, recycle, have a garden, compost our scraps and shredded junk mail, shop at yard sales and thrift stores whenever possible, use reusable shopping bags, dry our clothes on a line during the spring and summer and use reusable water bottles instead of buying prefilled bottles at the store.
We’ve made a ton of changes since December. We don’t use any paper towels or paper napkins, use cloth diapers, recycle, never buy bottled water, use CFLs, use cloth bags for the grocery store, planted a garden, put up a clothesline, clean only with natural and homemade cleaners, compost…hmmm….that’s all I can think of off the top of my head.

We’re going green by giving the plastic grocery bags a miss and using cloth bags. We’re also planting our own garden, and buying as much as we can from local growers and producers, preferably organic (which a lot of them seem to be). As light bulbs go out, we’re replacing them with energy efficient bulbs, and when we can save up the money, we’re going to install a radiant heat barrier in our attic to help reduce electricity costs. We’re also considering switching to an electric provider that uses renewable energy sources rather than coal.

I swear I didn’t copy your idea for asking for green actions … but that is exactly what mine is about.
Still, I need me some Sigg water bottle! It’s the ONLY thing I haven’t done, actually. Right now I just don’t drink water out and about but now that the warmer weather is here, that’s not going to be an option. Great giveaway!
Let’s see: We have one-car, my husband commutes 80 percent of the week, I walk to buy 30-40 percent of our groceries at the local farmer’s markets, where I buy only local and fresh (not really organic, though since we’re on a very small budget); we buy only used plastic toys and hardly any toys at all, we have all CFLs, and are trying to update all appliances, but that’s hard on a budget. My hope is to start having a garden, a compost and start buying bamboo home decor. ubertwins@gmail.com

Hi!
I added you to my RSS reader (through netvibes) and am so excited about this water bottle giveaway. It’s so pretty, and I’m sick of the offerings out there that are lime green and fushia. I want a little class with my water bottle, is that so wrong?
Here’s how I’ve gone more green in my home. First, I work from home and we are a one car family. We considered getting a second car, but I would rather walk the children to the park instead of creating more carbon emissions by purchasing a second car.
Second, we use all natural cleaning products. Seventh Generation is our favorite brand.
Third, I run a paperless office. When I print receipts, I print them to .pdf instead of using my printer and ink. then I email them to my accountant who doesn’t print them out either. That saves a lot of paper over the year. Receipts from all online purchases (and I shop almost exclusively online, because it is better for the environment to have something shipped in the mail than to run to Walgreens every day for this, that, and the other thing. (Like taking the bus. Sure a bus is worse than a car, but 50 people in one bus is better than 50 cars…that’s my logic.)
I’m enjoying your blog!

First contest I’ve ever entered! Timing is perfect, I just decided next week to begin eliminating as much plastic from our house as possible. I’d like to start using aluminum bottles for my kids and myself and husband instead of plastic. And replace plastic lunch box containers and food storage containers with glass and porcelain as much as possible. We shop at our local food co-op for most of our groceries, buying bulk in reusable containers and bags, and buying local as much as possible. We always re-use bags (we take them back to the co-op and others can re-use them) and recycle everything possible. I’ve installed a drip/soaker system for our backyard and are re-visiting composting again this year. We rarely use paper towels, only cloth rags and towels. We have a high fuel efficiency vehicle for my husband’s long distance commute, and our next car purchase is probably going to be bio-fuel or electric/battery. We only use those compact fluorescent bulbs. I ride my girls to school on a bike/burley/bike trailer get-up whenever weather permits. I work from a home office. We purchase solar energy blocks from the electric company for our residential electricity. We’re giving carbon offsets to family members for their vehicles as presents this year. Soooo…. aluminum bottles are next! I hope we win! Thanks!! (I’ve subscribed to your blog feed too!)
I love the Sigg. My kids are addicted to how cold they keep things. Rock on!!!
I joined a vegetable co-op last year which lowers my carbon footprint. In addition, they don’t use pesticides so it’s better for the environment! and the food’s delish
I love the look of these water bottles.
I’m been using energy saving bulbs in place of regular ones. I also save all of my aluminum cans and cash them in for money.
Love this beautiful SIGG!! I’ve been wanting what seems like forever to have a SIGG!!
Please pick me!! I’m starting to go green lately by not running any unnecessary water for showers and brushing teeth, using cold water for washing clothes and more! I would be SO grateful if I could have a SIGG of my own and stop the use of water bottles. Oh and I just subs to your feeds!!

I started composting about two years ago, and that makes me feel SO much better when my kids don’t eat all their veggies. We no longer buy bottled H2O. Ooh! Count me in! We have spent the last few years cleaning up our lives and making this world a better place for our little boy—We buy anything organic that we can get our hands on. We’ve switched out our lightbulbs and collected reusable grocery bags. We have cleaned out most unnecessary plastics from our home–I could go on and on. One of the most difficult things is packing a drink for taking my son out during the day. We always find ourselves purchasing bottled water and it is starting to really bother me–This giveaway is perfect, especially in light of Earth Day! Please put a frazzled, disorganized mom of a pre-schooler on your list so that if I win, I can have something convenient to carry out with me while protecting the environment! :o)

That’s a really cool/pretty water bottle!
I receive paperless bills. i use reusable bags, and I use things like baking, lemon juice, and vinegar to clean.
I have switched to all natural laundry detergent, stopped buying bottled water by the case and bought a Britta pitcher instead.
Thanks! I love that bottle!
i love these bottles and really hope to win one! thanks for the opportunity!
The biggest change I’ve made lately is taking my lunch in reusable containers versus brown paper bags. It might sound like a small change but when you’ve been brown bagging for 30 years, it’s huge to not buy paper bags anymore. We are also slowly doing away with grocery bags and instead using our own. Small changes, but it feels good

We try to do as much as we can. My favorite being using my own shopping bags. It’s great that most stores now offer cloth bags for only a dollar! We pack them for lots of stuff (groceries, farmers market, library, sleepovers…). WAY better than plastic bags!
The water bottle is so cute! Thanks for the drawing!
We are *trying* to turn into a green house little by little. At first we started with cloth dipes then moved to cloth in the kitchen, and shopping bags. I generally only buy my family recycled clothing from local thrift stores. Of course we recycle everything in our home. We’ve switched over all of our lights to CFBs, purchased reuseable shopping bags for grocery shopping, and have been recycling or freecycling all of our electronic items instead of throwing them out. We also stopped fertilizing our lawn (too much time and trouble trying to keep up with impossibly high neighborhood lawn standards!)
we have a drawer to put used paper in to use for scrap paper.
I’m still working on “going green” but here’s the progress so far:
We recycle everything possible (I feel guilty when I don’t)
I buy organic and shop at the local farmer’s market
We switched all the light bulbs in our house to the energy saving variety
We’ve bought a couple of Sigg bottles (even the kids use them instead of sippy cups now) so I don’t buy plastic bottles anymore.
Thanks for the cool contest!!!
I make my own laundry detergent. No bottles that have to be recycled or might go in a landfill. No chemicals being put out into the ground and no toxins being absorbed by our bodies!!
How am I going green? I am recycling more, even though I have been recycling for years now, I am just learning about so much more that can be recycled! I have started using pine litter and using the waste as fertilizer, never thought I would do that. Buying locally grown foods at Farmer’s Market and buying organic cleansers for the house and for the body. I have never heard of the Sigg bottle’s, but will have to look into that also! I’m trying not to buy bottled water and I am using my pur water filter more! I’m going to try to subscribe to your blog, never done it before
We try to be more of a “green” family by composting, growing a few of our own plants, having jobs that are earth helpful (teacher/mom, and natural resource employee for a tribe here in WA state), and using reusable bags and water bottles, to name a few!
I have switched the majority of my cleaning products to all natural and organic. I recycle and I compost. I try to ride my bike every where I can. I use reusable shopping bags, and I buy carbon offsets. This is a great contest. Thanks
We used to be more green than we are now..we’re trying to get back to it…so the things we do currently: wash out the plastic water bottles & use them again ( now I”m hearing this isn’t healthy..sigh)..recycle plastic bags when we get them..using cloth bags slowly for shopping…using travel mugs instead of styfoam cups…not sure what else.

Among several other things that our family does to green up our home, we have started to mow our lawn with a push mower. You know the old fashioned kind that uses only people power. No gas, no fumes, no problems getting it started, no noise. I think people tend to think of it as being hard to push, but the newer models are actually quite easy. And you get some really great exercise while you are at it.
Thanks for the giveaway!
We switched all our light bulbs to CFLs, we use reusable bags and a bin at the grocery store instead of getting plastic bags, I use cloth pads instead of disposables every month, and I’m trying to switch to green cleaning products. I’ve been riding my bike to work instead of taking the car, and I convinced my boss to get a big cardboard recycle bin to go out by the dumpster so we can recycle instead of just throwing it in the garbage! We’d also like to get a rain barrel for our new house when we move. ^_^
I’m in Canada but I have a USA shipping address… I hope that’s close enough! I’d love to win this, it’s super adorable!

We have thrown out all of our cleaners that contain chemicals in favor of the non-chemical ones. We stopped buying paper plates and napkins. We use clothes for cleaning instead of paper towels. And many other things! Our aim to become more “green” is slowly but surely coming along!
I stopped buying paper plates, switching to natural cleaners, bought cloth pull-ups, and may others! Still trying to do more!
I’d love to win this. We are using organic cleaning products, chlorine free diapers, and energy efficent light bulbs and are getting ready to buy an energy efficient frig.

My green efforts have included carrying a reusable water bottle that I fill with filtered tap water before leaving the house…so no buying of bottled water. I’ve switched from using sponges in the kitchen (which get nasty quickly and have to be replaced) to using dishcloths. I’ve also taken t-shirts that were in the donation pile and re-purposed them into reuseable shopping bags (turn em inside out, sew across the bottom several times, cut out the neck and cut off the arms, turn right side out and voila!!). I’m in the process of getting my hair used to being washed with baking soda and vinegar versus chemical laden shampoos and conditioners. I also open windows and doors as much as possible when the weather is nice versus using the air conditioning/heating…and in the winter we keep the thermostat low and just wear more layers!!

Oh man, I LOVE these!
We’ve started doing quite a bit…still not enough…but ya know. Recycling paper (we live in a small town, so they don’t offer recycling of much…in fact, I have to drive 30 min out to recycle paper). Using Shaklee cleaning supplies. Greener body care. Using less and less of processed foods. Finding ways to craft with my trash. Cloth diapers. Cloth diaper wipes. Borrowing and trading off books and magazines and movies within family and friend circles. Geocaching for fun. Checking out consignment shops for clothes for the family…. there’s more on my blog…www.bosssanders.com…I just keep forgetting! Oh yeh, this year…I planted a garden…by myself.
