I keep multiple water bottles filled in the fridge at all times — we all prefer our water super cold. And I keep my kids stocked with a water bottle to have on their desk at school. DH takes them in his lunch box to work now, and I carry mine around all day long (until it’s worn out and now I need a new one!)

Oooh! Sigg bottles in the fridge — what a wonderful idea, JenniferB! TOTALLY going to try that!
I actually bought my son the pirate-flavored sigg for his birthday, just to encourage him to drink more water. It totally worked, too. If I win this sigg, I’d use it to “train” my hubby. =D
Great giveaway — thanks!

Well, I say, go drink some water. And I got a special pitcher for my 6 year old to pour her own water (our water dispenser doesn’t work on our frig).
Oh, and I keep some bottles filled with purified water by the door to grab when we go somewhere. They are glass, so a metal one is preferable with kids.

I find that drinking out of a straw helps encourage me to drink more water…not sure why, maybe it’s just psychological…but the other big thing I’ve started doing is instead of asking my husband at dinner time what he wants to drink, I just fill both our glasses with water. Typically if we start with water, we finish with water - definitely a great thing for us! Thanks for the great giveaways - just LOVE these SIGG bottles!

April 22nd, 2008 at 12:57 pm
I used to be a really good water drinker but somehow got swayed away by sodas, etc….but now I’m back! I encourage myself by setting a goal of how many bottles of water to drink each day and then work away at it until I have gotten them in! And, really, it’s amazing that I’ve had to work at this because I really love water. PS - I refill the same bottle over and over, so this great SIGG bottle would be perfect for that! Thanks for the great give away!

Ok, I have 3 boys so today’s bottle would be better for us than the floral, lol! Seriously, we are huge water drinkers. My middle son only drinks water and vanilla milkshakes! My youngest loves Coke, juice, etc. but we really limit those and encourage the boys to drink water. Their dad and I drink a ton to set a good example. Actually, it’s the opposite for us - my husband has to remind me to drink water during the day. And he’s pretty cute about it. He’ll call to say ‘hi’, and ask if I’ve had any water (we work out a lot, and he’s very conscious about rehydrating). He also makes sure we each have a glass of water with dinner at home.

It sounds basic, but my best tip is to not buy soda. I like it a lot better than water and I drink it if it’s in the house. When water is the only option, I drink a lot more. Funny how that works.

I can’t tell you how much I would LOVE to have a SIGG water bottle. I have heard so many awesome things about them and with the food program I am on, I have to increase my water. This would be a GREAT way to help keep me motivated. As far as what I do to get my family to drink more water, I keep a jug of it in the fridge all the time — two in the summer. That way, when they open the fridge to get a drink, they grab the water before the other things such as soda, Kool-Aid or juice. my husband reminds me hourly/daily to drink more water
April 23rd, 2008 at 2:23 am
These are awesome! We do not have a problem with not drinking enough water. When my son was a toddler, he would drink 2-3 cups of water every night (not to mention what he would drink all day.) so he would wet through his diaper every night. I just give the kids cups on the counter everyday, and they refill them as needed. Thanks for the giveaway!

What I do to encourage my family to drink water is simple: fill the bottle. I make it a goal to drink that bottle by a certain time, and then fill it again. My family does the same thing.

I drink from a bottle that has labeled amounts on it so I know exactly how much water I’m drinking–we don’t keep soda in the house either so I don’t have many choices when I am thirsty

I drink water in the car when I’m out and going. We also were given a big Berkey water filter for Christmas. It’s great! Fresh, clean water…no filters to buy…at least not for a long time. That filter gets out everything. People use them in third world countries where there is no water system. It’s been wonderful. It’s also large and fast enough that I can get my water for cooking from it too.

I’m actually really bad at drinking water. I try to keep my Nalgene (I have the 16oz. size) with me when I go somewhere because I’ve noticed that if I have a pretty bottle to drink out of, I’ll drink more. It would be really nice to have one of these, because it’s bigger. I also don’t really like juice, and I only drink milk once in awhile, so that helps, because when I do drink something it’s water.

We’ve given up sodas completely. We don’t have good tap water here, but instead of buying bottles of water we purchased refillable 5 gallon jugs and buy affordable refills of filtered drinking water from our local health food store. We’re both consuming close to a gallon a day now
thanks!

Need a new one!
Water is pretty much the only choice of beverage at my house. Carrying around a water bottle helps too.

We moved from the east coast to a town in Colorado that is 7000 ft. above sea level and when I got here the first thing everyone told me is that you have to drink LOTS of water or you will suffer from altitude sickness. Luckily for me, even once the potential for illness passed, the drinking of water continued. I haven’t been as good as I should be the last couple of weeks (drinking coffee in the mornings instead of water). But a new water bottle might help inspire me!

We have a Brita pitcher in the fridge. I don’t like water that isn’t super cold, so I have to keep it in there to encourage myself to drink more water. My son loves milk more than anything else, so it’s tough to get him to drink water without a complaint.
We need to stop buying pop, because it’s so addictive!

My family loves water. We go through 10 gallons a week! I don’t think I need to encourage them to drink more water, we’d all float away! But, my friends who don’t like water, I tell them to add some Crystal Light to Go to it. Or flavor it with fruit. I just did an entry that included my top 10 tips, and water was the first one.

We do a lot of insentives to drink more water - I keep NO soda at home, and if we all order water at a resturant, we get to split a dessert. Also, I use a filter so the water tastes cleaner. Thanks for an awesome giveaway!

My husband would love this bottle! I’m lucky that I don’t really have to encourage my family to drink water, we all just do. I guess it probably helps that water is the only option I give between meals. With everything coming out about BPA this family needs new water bottles! Great giveaway!

I finally realized at the age of 37 that the reason I don’t like drinking water is because I don’t like the taste/smell of the chemicals and such in the water, and I don’t like the taste of plastic drinking containers … yeah, sounds pretty high maintenance. So we got an undersink reverse osmosis filter, and now our water tastes great and I don’t use juice anymore to mask the off flavors. Doesn’t save much money in the long term, with the cost of replacing filters, but it’s about even to buying juice all the time (and I save the calories). My daughters like the filtered water better too. To get them to drink more, I just make sure they have it available to them all the time. Just water or water with a little bit of juice for meal times.
