Change is a-comin’

After the worst flight I’ve ever been on, we finally arrived in Michigan last night.  Back to our routine as usual today.  Ladybug had school this morning and was supposed to have a picnic tonight at 5:30. At 5pm, it started pouring down rain, so I had to try and make a 2.5 year-old understand that there would be no picnic tonight.  It was no picnic, let me tell you.

As Ladybug was settling into bed for the night, Dr. D and I were in the other room watching history being made right before our eyes.  I missed John McCain’s speech (though from what I’ve heard, I didn’t miss much), but I was able to watch Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both give fantastic speeches.  While Hillary didn’t concede, she seemed to tie up her campaign with a neat little bow in the speech that she delivered.  On the other hand, Obama spoke for the first time as the presumptive nominee for the democratic ticket.  I won’t go into the details of his speech, but he made it clear what the agenda for the next few months will be.

This presidential race has been full of history making moments.  I, for one, am incredibly proud that we have had such a diverse panel of candidates during the primaries.  I am even more proud that we will be given the opportunity to vote for someone other than a white male.  Perhaps this is the beginning of a new era.  I hope that when my daughter is old enough to vote, it won’t be out of the ordinary for a woman or man of any race to run for the Office of President.

Yikes. Sounds like an awful flight!

It has been interesting actually having a RACE for the nomination. So often it’s this total blow out win and there isn’t the back and forth. I’m sure it’s been physically and mentally exhausting for Barack and Hillary.
