At least we’ll be clean…

Is it wrong to be proud of a box full of toiletries?  I hope not, because I am!  I have been collecting these items since January, when I started officially CVS’ing.  In this box I have the following:

  • 12 Dove Deodorants
  • 6 Adidas Deodorants
  • 3 Herbal Essences Shampoo/Conditioners
  • 3 Herbal Essences Shampoo/Conditioners
  • 7 Listerine Smart Rinse Mouthwashes
  • 9 Suave Shampoos
  • 2 Suave Body Washes
  • 9 Boxes of CVS Brand “Tylenol
  • 6 Boxes of CVS Brand Bandages
  • 2 Sicks of Benedryl Allergy Reliever
  • 1 Tums Quick-Pack
  • 4 Kiss Nail Glues
  • 6 Aquafresh Toothpastes
  • 28 Toothbrushes

Yes folks, I said 28 Toothbrushes.  It seems that there have been “free” toothbrush deals at CVS constantly since I started “doing the deals”.  After we move, I will probably go through all of them and only keep the ones that my family (and our houseguests) will use.  The rest, I plan to donate to our local women’s shelter.  They have already seen the benefits of TONS of other CVS finds.

Keep in mind, all of this stuff was bought with either no or very little out of pocket expense on my part.  Aside from the initial investment to get my first round of “Extra Care Bucks”, I have spent a tiny amount on these items.  I hope that this will make a dent in my family’s budget this year.

And to top things off, I’ve been able to get TWO gift cards for prescription transfers this week.  I now have $55 to use on future CVS deals!

I hit it big at CVS today!

8 SoftSoap Spa Body Washes

6 Suave Body Washes

Box of Trashbags

All of these things for only 52 cents OOP. And I got back $39.92 in ECBs.

I had several of the infamous 5/15 coupons left to use, so I made sure that I didn’t let them expire.

The Suave Body Wash and Trashbags were on my grocery list for later in the day. I was able to work them into a CVS deal so I didn’t have to spend money on them!

Seriously folks, if you don’t know about it already, head on over to Hot Coupon World to learn all about it!

This is the first week that I have actually netted a profit from my “deals”. I could have done more, but I can’t seem to find a few of the CVS products that are generating ECBs this week. I’m hoping to make it to a few of the stores this Thursday when they get their shipments.

I think that I am starting to really get the hang of it! We are set on haircare products for a while. If only I could figure out how to get paid to “buy” toilet paper!

WFMW: Extend the Life of Your Dryer Sheets

WFMW Banner

Here’s my tip:

Because I am very particular about the dryer sheets that my family uses, I usually don’t scrimp on them. That means they are fairly expensive. So in order to stretch their life a little longer, I usually cut or tear them into pieces before I add them to the dryer. I have found that the load does not suffer and I am able to get 2-3x the life out of my dryer sheets. I use the leftover ones to clean the lint filter.

So….what’s working for you? Head on over to Rocks in my Dryer to find more tips and tricks!

Target Overload

This Post got me to thinking about all that I have gotten at Target during their “After Christmas Clearance” and their “Huggies Wipe Extravaganza”!

During the after Christmas Sale, I waited until things were 75% off before I even walked in the door. I was able to get Stocking Holders and Stockings for $2.75 each. I chose the plain stockings so we could customize them with our names or a cute monogrammed pin. I have plenty to for next year when we are in our new house (fingers crossed)!

This $3.00 Sleigh, marked down from $14, is a big hit around here!

I also got several Glade Oil Candle Holders and refills with the printable coupons from Coupons.com.

The Holders were on sale because they were Christmas Scents and I used a Buy One Get One Free coupon on them too. They ended up being about $12 for all of them. The Refills were $2.00 with a $1.50 coupon per refill. I really like the Apple Cinnamon scent. They will be great for next Christmas.

Also on sale were some of the toys that they brought in just for Christmas Presents. I got this Play-Doh caddy for 4 bucks and change. Almost worth it just for the rolling pin and scissors!632311932209_0_alb.jpg

The Huggies coupon was a great deal for us too. For those of you that don’t know, the coupon was for $3.00 off of 2 Huggies Products. At first, I thought that I would be able to get some overage, but that was not the case here. Our products tend to be priced higher than down South. The “travel wipes” that people were using to get overage were $1.27 here…and very elusive. I couldn’t find them very often at all. I had to settle for the $1.97 packs. No overage, but the wipes ended up being right around $0.01 per wipe. That’s a good price! I have so many packages now that the diaper bag will be stocked for a long time. In fact, we may be using some of the Christmas wipes next holiday season!

WFMW: The Backwards Edition

This week over at Rocks in my Dryer, Shannon has organized another “Backwards Week.” This means that I get to pose a question for YOU to answer. So here are my questions:

  • What do you do to save money?
  • If you clip coupons, where do you usually shop to redeem them?
  • What are your favorite “cheap knock-off” products?
  • What is your favorite easy-peasy frugal recipe?
  • What are your favorite frugal websites?
  • Any other tips or tricks?

When you’re done here, head on over to Rocks in my Dryer to find out what is working (or not working, in this case) for other folks!

Oh yeah…I almost forgot!  The Bloggy Giveaways “It’s Your Turn” Giveaway Carnival is coming up.  I’m taking suggestions on things to offer for a giveaway!  What would you like to see being given away here?

The Coupon Game

I’m not very good with it. For the past week, I have been reading as much material on the subject as possible. I am incredibly overwhelmed. There are so many situations and scenarios that you have to understand in order to work many of the great deals that some of these stores offer.

Which Kroger doubles coupons? Does Meijer accept printable coupons? Do any of the stores in my area take expired coupons? What the heck are ExtraCare Bucks?

A gal could go crazy thinking about some of these things! Each store seems to have their own system of operation. I’m just at a loss. I hear of all these awesome deals, but I never seem to be able to duplicate any of them.

CVS ExtraCare Bucks are a real pain to understand.  Grr.

Excess Holiday Cards?

This is not the post that I had planned for today, but I read it over at Mama Karma’s Site and it seemed appropriate for today.  Instead of trashing those piles of Holiday Cards at the end of the season, check out this post about re-purposing them for bookmarks, ornaments, recipe cards, and even new holiday cards!
