Silly Cousins (aka, “how to get a boy to like you”)
Sunday, June 22nd, 2008Ladybug was born in November 2005. In February 2006, her cousin Doodlebug was born, making them right at 3 months apart. Until recently, 3 months made quite a bit of difference in the things that they were able to do. The last two trips to Arkansas, however, we have noticed that these two-year-old cousins are going to be good buddies. They LOVE playing with each other! Most of their playing these days is on the silly side, so we have tons of fun watching them. Here are some pics from our trip back in February for Doodlebug’s Birthday.

Hey Cuz! Look at this!!

What, you like that?

You’re so silly….

…no, YOU are…

…no, we BOTH are!

Here Cuz. Do it again!
Muddy Waters
Friday, June 6th, 2008When you fly to Arkansas, you pass over beautiful farmland, small towns, and lots of water. Arkansas is just full of puddles and creeks, ponds and streams, and lakes and rivers. I always feel like I’m home when I see the big ole’ muddy Arkansas River!

After stretching our legs for a bit on the ground, we posed for a few pictures and then hit the road.
So…now it’s time for a game. It’s called “Guess Whose Hair is their Natural Color!”

(That’s My Mom in the middle and my Lil’ Sister in the shades!)
Family Time
Thursday, May 29th, 2008Greetings all! I’m coming to you live from what is shaping up to be a cloudy, hot and humid day here in Central Arkansas. We have had a fantastic visit so far, seeing many family and friends. Ladybug is currently in the room adjacent to me playing with her older cousin, who she has missed like crazy. They even slept in the same bed last night! Needless to say, she has been running on full speed since we arrived. Finally she found a few minutes to rest her little body!

With another jam-packed day planned, I hope she is able to catch another nap sometime today!
Zoo Days
Saturday, May 17th, 2008We actually did a few more things last week than I mentioned in my previous post. Dr. D’s brother recently moved from Arkansas TO MICHIGAN!! He moved up here to go to film school. Yep. We now have family that is only an hour away. And let me tell you, I’m excited.
To celebrate our first “get together” we drove up to see my Brother-in-Law’s new apartment. After that, we went to the Zoo. His new place is not too far from the Detroit Zoo, and we had never been, so we decided to go.
While I wasn’t blown away, I was pleased. Ladybug had a great time, it wasn’t too crowded (on a Saturday afternoon) and we got to see some beautiful animals. The gardens were gorgeous too! Ladybug also liked the fountain, so we decided to get a few pictures in front of it. (These were from my iPhone. Sorry for the quality.)

She wasn’t too happy that Uncle Pooh kept her out of the pool.

The wind blew her hat off and Uncle Pooh tried to catch it.

Finally! We have a picture to send Grammy for Mother’s Day!
Like a Duck to the Water
Sunday, March 9th, 2008
Ladybug loves to play in the water. Dr. D and I have to work hard at keeping her out of the dogs’ water bowls in the kitchen. Fortunately, the local Children’s Museum has a water table in their preschool area. We took her there when my parents were in town a few weeks ago.

And that’s the life of a firstborn child/grandchild. We all just sit around and watch her!
NANA!!!!
Saturday, February 23rd, 2008We made it!
Friday, February 22nd, 2008Valentine’s Day: Part 2
Friday, February 15th, 2008Valentine’s Day: Part 1
Thursday, February 14th, 2008This morning we woke up to another beautiful day here. The sun is out and I can hear the wind gently blowing my chimes on the front porch.
When I saw my sweet little girl this morning she said, “Happy Vaw-em-times Day, Mommy!” Then she followed it up with, “Where’s my pwesent?”
Yeah. She’s a spoiled little thing.
I politely explained to her, yet again, that we had to wait for daddy to get home before we could exchange our Valentines. She was cool with that, until the door rang.
EVERY time the door rings, Ladybug thinks that whoever at on the other side of the door certainly MUST be delivering a present for her.
Again, I know she’s completely rotten.
Lo and behold, it WAS a package for her. My parents had sent her V-Day gifts in a big box, knowing she would get a huge thrill out of it. Secretly, I got a big thrill too when I opened the box to find these:

Yep. My Mama sent me a box of cookies. Thought they might be peppermint, but they were actually chocolate chunks and white chocolate chips! Delicious.
Ladybug was so excited that she couldn’t seem to put down her new toys. Here’s how we spent the morning!

Don’t ya just love the necklace-bracelet-shades-barrette combo?
We had just rolled out of bed, so we ended up eating cookies, milk, Diet Pepsi and PEZ for breakfast, a move I have later come to regret. We had fun though. And a little fun never really hurt anyone.
(Stick around for Part 2, in which she gets more stuff, furthering my theory that she is completely and utterly spoiled rotten.)
