Post Black Friday
How did you do?
Happy Birthday, Sis.
Today is my sister’s birthday. We’ve been fortunate to have her (and the rest of my nuclear family) here for Thanksgiving. Now we get to have a Birthday Party!
Happy Birthday Sis!
A Meme of Fours
With the month almost being over, I’m running out of material. So you get another Meme.
Fortunately, I found this over at Karen’s and KT’s places. Here’s my Meme of Fours.
1. Four places I go over and over: Target, Mall, Preschool, Grocery Store.
2. Four people who email me regularly: Mom, Jenn, Sue, Shannon.
3. Four of my favorite places to eat: Lily’s, Sr. Tequila’s, California Pizza Kitchen, BD’s Mongolian Barbecue.
4. Four places I’d rather be right now: Beach, Beach, Beach, Beach. I want somewhere warm!
5. Four TV shows I watch: Grey’s, HIMYM, Desperate Housewives, Scrubs
And Why is it called “A Meme of Fours” when there are 5 questions? I have no idea. Direct your questions to Karen.
Menu Planning
I am trying my hardest to get my menu for Thanksgiving nailed down so I can head out to the store. I have a few ideas, but I just can’t seem to get a full meal planned! So tell me, what are you serving for Thanksgiving? Feel free to just leave the name of the dish, or if you want to leave a recipe, go ahead and leave it!
Here’s what I have so far:
- Turkey (duh!)
- Dressing (I was going to make it from scratch, but I think I will just go with my favorite “box” of Pepperidge Farms stuffing.)
- Sweet Potato Casserole
- Mashed Potatoes
- Green Beans
- Corn
- Rolls
I’m not sure what else I want to serve, or if this is what I will end up serving. Why is this so hard?

Ladybug’s 3rd Birthday Extravaganza
It was wild and crazy. I’ll prove it:
We rented a giant inflatable slide and bouncy castle for the party. Since it was “off season” we were able to keep it all weekend! In order to take maximum advantage of it, we had Dr. D’s brother and family come up the night before the party! Here are the “cousins” and my sister’s husband playing around before the party.

My Sister’s Husband..he’s crazy for Ladybug. Like most of the men in the family, he would do just about anything for those big brown eyes!

They played so hard before the party, I was afraid that she would want to take a nap. Fortunately, she pushed ahead and showed everyone how to use the slide!

Even MY grandmother got into the action, assisted by my cousin and my sister.

Well, sure enough she pooped out on me. Well, actually, it was on Grammy!

While little Ladybug was enjoying her power nap in her Grammy’s Lap, some of us took advantage of craft time. Since it was kind of chilly we had a kids table of craft foam letter and shapes. The intention was for the kids to get a chance to warm up while decorating their own crown, sword, or wand to take home as their party favor.

Ironically, it was mainly the adults that got into the craft table! Most of us made a crown with our name on it. Fortunately, I had counted on this to happen, so I bought extra crowns!
Then it was time for cake. Yes, this is Ladybug’s real name. Pretend you didn’t see that

It was pretty while it lasted….then the kidos devoured it! It was soooo yummy. Perhaps the best strawberry cake I’ve ever had!

I was going to let the kids run off some more energy after the cake, but they all insisted that it was time for the princess to hold court. And by hold court, I mean open presents! If that’s not a throne fit for a princess, I don’t know what is!

Then on to the pinata. This is our friend W. W is one of the sweetest little boys you will ever meet. He was absolutely HILARIOUS stuffing that little baggie full of candy from the pinata. Incidentally, the pinata is the ONLY party decoration that had Disney Princesses on it. I was trying to go for a “disney free” theme, but we had a hard time finding a pull-sting pinata that wasn’t themed. This one was great though. Ladybug really thought it was neat.

After playing a little more…

…it was time for everyone to head home. And for us to recover. Ladybug gathered all the balloons around the couch so she could enjoy them just a little longer!

And then she asked to go put on one of her new gowns that she received as a gift. Thank goodness Nana had the foresight to wash them before it got dark!

It was so much fun, but it was sure tiring!
Fluff
Though we’re officially back to real life, time has gotten away from me yet again. This is more of a status update instead of a blog post. Sorry for the fluff.
Check out my giveaways here and here. They are fantastic!
