WFMW: Chopsitcks
Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 11:15PM
Ok folks, I know you all have these around the house. You order Asian take-out and you don't use all of the chopsticks that they give you. Instead of just throwing them into your junk drawer, put them to good use!
Here are a few of the things that I use chopsticks for:
- Dinner (duh)
- When making tea in the microwave, place one chopstick in the water before heating it. It will help keep it from getting super hot and splashing out when you add the tea bag.
- Makeshift Bamboo Skewers
- Makeshift Drumsticks
- Giant Cake Testers, when you run out of toothpicks
- And most importantly, scraping poop off the bottom of shoes!
That's what is working for me this week. What is working for you? Share your tips and tricks over at Rocks in My Dryer!

I have two dogs. Poop Happens.
I do not re-use the poopy chopsticks! I'm not that cheap!! :)
I must not order from the right restaurants. We've never got any chopsticks. I will definitely ask the next time I order and then I'll be able to try out your ideas.
If one had enough sets of chopsticks, a game of Pik-Ups sticks would be an option.
Don't forget, you can always take them to that weird a$$ neighbor who will carve them into knitting needles, crochet hooks, or make them into trivets. That is, if you are going to be traveling to a state where said weirdo lives ; )
I can' t imagine living someplace with Asian takeout instead of the two Chinese restaurants within 3 miles of where we live!
If you have a waffle iron, a chopstick is a great way to 'loosen' the edges of waffles that stick.
You can also use a wooden one to test if your oil is hot enough in your skillet. (I mostly use a wooden spoon end for this.) Poke the end of the stick into the oil. If there aren't many (or any) bubbles, your oil is still too cold. If you see bubbles dancing happily around the edge of the chopstick/spoon, the oil is ready! (Of course, if the stick catches fire...you waited too long. No, this never happened to me, LOL!)
Kamrin....she lives in Michigan. Nuff said! ;)
Chopsticks are crazy useful to have around! My mother gave me a dozen or so colorful sets one year and we use them every day for stirring coffee as well as eating with them from time to time.
I need to eat more Chinese food for the chopsticks. I love the poop removal idea!
I also use them to give a firm stand for newly sprouted plants.

Have a great day!
I always reuse my chopsticks to eat with!
Maybe it's because I'm a poor student XD
