And you know it's time to potty train when...

If you have kids, when did you decide to potty train them?
My defining moment came two days ago.
Dr. D was supposed to get off of work early, so I jumped in the shower to start getting ready. Since our house is SOOOO small, I can leave the door open and allow Ladybug to play in the den while I do this. Usually, this is not a problem. She plays or watches TV while I get ready.
Yeah. Not anymore.
Just as I was rinsing all the soap out of my hair, the door swings wide open and I hear these bone-chilling, stomach-turning words.
"Mommy, I pooped my di-pah."
I could feel myself tense up as I shut the water off and draw the curtain back. Sure enough, my two year-old daughter was standing in the middle of my tiny bathroom holding a diaper with a great big turd inside.
I set the diaper on the toilet lid and carried her all the way to her changing table. After I cleaned her up, we disposed of the diaper and had a long talk about pooping in the potty and why you shouldn't take your own diaper off. Yeah. Like she listened to me at all.
We talk about poo and pee and potties all the time these days, so I think that it might be time to try. She has shown interest in the past, but we didn't want to push her to hard. If she is going to start pulling off her diaper when she soils herself, I think it's time.
So now, we are armed with pull-ups, diapers for night and naps, vinyl covers, and pretty pink panties. We are also stocked on carpet cleaner, disinfectant, and cottonelle wipes (read this article about kiddie wipes that are on the market). We have not started yet, but when we do, we will be thoroughly prepared.
Because I do NOT want another one of these scenes.

They do it when they're ready. I remember me pushing dd and she wasn't ready. Then 6 months later, she was and she did it.
I remember trying to hold off on ds potty training b/c I didn't want to do it in the winter (too many layers). No stopping him, he did it anyway without my help. Crazy kids!
