WFMW: Crayons in the Diaper Bag
Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 11:35PM
This week, I have a little "Diaper Bag Trick". These days, Ladybug LOVES to color. Restaurant crayons often snap after the first few seconds in her tight little toddler hands. They also do not provide the great color that other crayons do. So we have started carrying our own!
I used to carry a few good crayons in a leftover M&M minis container.

That provided a good bit of protection for the crayons in my diaper bag. The didn't get crushed to bits in the bag, and my bag didn't get all messy. Unfortunately, you can only carry a few crayons in there.
Then I tried a travel soap dish.

The soap dish that I purchased was just one of the cheapies from the travel section. It works well for us, mainly because we are able to fit 16 Triangular shaped Crayola crayons inside. They don't roll around either. We have been flying quite a bit lately, and it is a perfect container for storing the crayons while in-flight. You can use both sides of the container to display the crayons right on the tray table.
This is what's working for me! What works for you? Head on over to Rocks in My Dryer to find more tips and tricks!

Oooh, great tip. I have 6 children and we are always in need of some kind of coloring distraction. Thank you!

What a fantastic idea! I carry crayons in my purse for my 3 year old son but they have a tendency to break or get lost. I'm going to buy me a soap carrier to try this out!
Thanks!

A soap dish...brilliant! If you have trouble with it staying closed, just use a cute hair elastic.

Perfect! I love the idea! I'll have to give it a try rather than just throwing them in my purse.

Doesn't the bar of soap in there make them all gooey?

That's a great idea! My girlie is just getting into coloring, and the box they came in is about to disintegrate, so I may look for one of these at the store!

That's a good idea! That would be a great idea whether traveling on a plane or spending a few days with grandma. Awesome!

I love this! Especially the idea of displaying them in both halves. My girls love to dump their crayons out of the box while they are coloring. This might get them not to dump!
